Principal's Corner
Principal Corner
The school year is well underway and at BCLA we are off to a great start. BCLA has a new EIS/bookkeeper this school year, Mrs. Cathy Mars and for HS math, we are lucky to have Mrs. Wendy Knight. The BCLA community is thrilled that they are on the team.
Currently students in Mr. Mars’s HS history classes are working on family tree projects through the website, www.familysearch.org. All students are learning some fascinating facts about their families. Learning history is a game-changer! Both middle and high school students in English classes are reading and writing poetry. Poems have been shared during morning announcements by willing participants. An all-school writing competition was held before the horseshow break and winning teams received Sonic slushes and free-time outside.
National Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 15th, this year’s theme is “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.” Teen Read Week is October 12-18 and that is always a grand time in the Bulldog pen.
Middle school students are participating in the HERO Program-a Middle School Recognition and Reward Program:
H is for helpful
E is for encouraging
R is for respectful
O is for outstanding
We are looking forward to our weekly, monthly, and year-end HERO winners.
Fall is approaching, so, let’s enjoy the upcoming changes to the temperature and the scenery.
